Can I feed seeds?

I was just going through my seeds for gardening and wondering if I could toss my extras in the run for the chickens? They are all store bought packets but there are more than I need (some things I grew once and didn’t like or the packet has more than I’ll ever use). I also have a huge bag of weed seed mix that I bought to grow food for my tortoises. Their weed patch is thriving and reseeds itself so they’d be happy to share with the chooks. Is this an acceptable idea?

I suppose you could throw the seeds out for scratch, a treat, sort of.

if they have been chemicaly treated it is not a good idea.

How about sprouting them for a bit of extra nutrition and greens? Or save for next year and grow a small plot for the flock similar to your turtle area?

I would think they probably wouldn't bother with them but you never know until you try. Good luck...
