Can I go ahead and feed my 14 chickens Layer feed? Right now they are on a Medicated starter feed. I have 7 that I hatched myself that I KNOW are 4 1/2 months old. I got about 7 more a month ago and added to the flock. The ones I added were about the same age...maybe off a few weeks. But I noticed someone is laying odd shaped eggs already. So, I just want to know can I go ahead and switch to a layer feed so even the odd shaped eggs we can go ahead and collect and eat? [IMG]

  2. Once they start laying it is necessary to switch to a layer feed. If they are the same age as you indicated now would be a good time to switch feed for all of them even if some haven't yet laid their first egg. May a supplement of oyster shell or ground up egg shells is in order to give them enough nutrients to lay more eggs.
