Can I get some help with color and sex.

IB boy does he ever hold his wing right? i know growing birds wings droop from the weight of the new feather growth, ducks and geese are the worst.

It almost looks like angle wing.
No he has never held his wing up it has always hung down, since I took him out of the incubator.. He is the one scalped by the incubator fan. Alicia said we have Johnathon her special needs son now we have Pecky a special needs pea.

I can't wait to see this one grow up, if it turns out male it will be the first time i have seen a pied black shouldered peacock.
FBC loves those Pied's. I am a more true color fan or I just haven't seen a Pied in person yet that I've thought was breath taking beautiful like the White and Midnight BS. Frency probably trying to get me into Pieds. As I have said many time. Peacocks your always waiting on. Waiting to see if eggs hatch. Waiting to see if they are male or female. Waiting to see their beauty appear.

na they should be fine , not sure about temperment but the breeder i got mine from told me her pied spalding killed their hens but who knows for sure, i mean if i saw my male harrasing a hen alot i would remove her

Ok on the Spalding hen. Spaldings my understanding come in all colors. Do you have any idea what color these two will be or will that be a surprise when they are grown also.

Lil Zoo,,where did you get Pecky from? One of my eggs? IB pen? If so remember I have an IB Pied male,IBB/S male and straight IB Male in that pen,,and with his white feathers showing on his drooping wing, the IB Pied was Pecky's father.
P.S.,,Yes,i love my Pieds,,all except for the Wild Thang who somehow got a double dose of the uglies.

This chick looks pied to me with the pure white feathers on the wings and flights. I hope Frenchy steps in and agrees with me. It would then be a midnight B/S Pied unless the eggs got mismarked and you got something else

Yoda,if you remember late last winter I started a thread about my supposed Midnight B/S not looking like a Midnight B/S? I bought and hatched out 5 Midnight B/S chicks from a seller in Iowa,,but I started to have serious doubts as to the true color of his eggs because of the 5 Midnight B/S eggs I got to hatch from him,I got 1 male and it turned out to be a IB B/S,,Not a Midnight. This is why I bought a Midnight B/S male from Hopkins this March,,,but I do not know for sure of the 4 hens I hatched from him are indeed Midnight B/S or IB B/S hens,,but there is no pied visible on any of the 5 birds in this pen,and the eggs were not mismarked,,I'm very particular about that and keep daily records of each pens eggs laid as well as which eggs are incubated-sold.Pecky could indeed be an IB pied, but Pokey coming from my Midnight B/S pen,,even tho she exhibits solid white feathers here and there,If she turns into a pied I'd guess it's from one of the hens in that group, which would be an added bonus if I knew which hen it was.

Yea I got Pecky and Pokey eggs from you. Pecky was marked IB and Pokey Midnight BS. Right now they are definitely in their ugly stage. Putting in adult feathers with still down on their necks and heads. The Spaldings were the same. Looked frizzled for a while, but now their coloring is appearing and they are getting really striking. They quickly change, but not fast enough for me. I love my peas but hate to wait. I guess I should of asked if anything can be done for Pecky's wing. I just figured that it was a result of his scalping he took from the incubator.

With the wing drooping that far down it looks like maybe it was broken somewhere on the last segment or the joint joining the second and third segment and didn't heal properly. Can you feel a knot where the hanging starts? If so thats where it was broke and healed up.If it is still bendable in that location it has not yet healed and then you would have a chance to cut all the feathers close to the skin and make a straight splint and tape the wing as it should be.
