Hi,
I really need a piece of advice regarding my cockerel with an unusual problem.
He is 22 weeks old lovely boy. Perfect in every way but one. He has a messy bottom.
Since he has hatched he always had a pasty bum. I've been cleaning him for months. He appears to have a birth defect and has never developed a tail.
Now he's older he seems to clean himself quite a bit but there is still poo stuck around his rear end. Other than that he's happy running around and singing his songs.
My question is, he's starting to show interest in treding the hens. What are the chances of them getting infected by him?
I really love this little chap and don't know what to...
Thanks

Not sure, it should be fine to keep him with the hens...
not sure though. If it is a defect, then its not contageous.
Yes, definitely not contagious. Everyone else is healthy and well and they were treated for cocci etc as a precaution. It's just how he is... But wonder what'd happen if he gets poo in hens vent...

he seems perfectly healthy it might be a defect like you said I have a Pekin rooster that has a non waterproof feather defect and a bigger tail than needed
