Can I make money off my hens?

High everyone, I was wondering, I have 8 chickens, but technically only 4 are mine and of those 4 only 3 are really mine. I was wondering, half of them are due to start laying in the next few weeks, and the way we do things is that the girls are paid 50 cents per egg they lay and that goes into food and things, we get an average of 2 to 3 eggs per day from the older hens and around 60 to 70 eggs per month. When the younger ones start laying we will get about double that. Could I make a monthly profit off my 3 pullets? With about 2 to 3 8ths of the money going to me, or would that not work. Here are some pics of my plans.

So do you think I could make a profit when they get paid every month?

Is this correct?
How much do you pay for a bag of feed?

Correct. We pay $20.00 every 3 to 4 months for a 20kg bag of food.

Just realized you are from Australia.....LOL, I was trying to figure out how you were getting .50C per egg. My experience in the US has been as follows. Over the life of the hens they might pay for themselves just based on feed/watering costs. I was getting 3.00 a dozen for the larger eggs and 2.00 for average size. By the time you calculate the cost of the bird itself plus the cost of feed it takes some time. I free range mine quite a bit so they don't eat as much feed as other birds who are in a coop 24/7. Even if you do end up making a "profit" from your hens the fact you only have 3 it will never be a huge profit.

I already had a coop and am not counting payback for what I bought for them when they were chicks. Just seeing if I could make an average of $15 dollars per month.

With 3 chickens I am not sure if you would make a profit. If you did, it might barely be a profit. Also, remember to calculate the seasons when there is less sunlight because you may get less eggs during that time.

I have closely tracked my costs and egg sales on a spread sheet for 4 years now and am lucky to break even for the year after paying for feed, bedding, and other supplies....that does not include the cost of coop and run. Some months are in the red, some break even, the only 'profitable' months are spring when all the birds are laying prolifically.

The accounting for the situation you describe would be a nightmare.
The way you have things listed there doesn't make much sense.
Who owns the other birds?
Who buys the feed and bedding?

Are you charging rent for the not really mine hens? How does this happen so curious. Lots of love! Maybe parents?
