Can I Mix Both Probiotic and Electrolyte in Same Gallon of Water?

I had three hatchling Ameraucana chicks yesterday, but one started sneezing and this morning, she died. She had stopped sneezing yesterday afternoon but started again this morning. I happened to be near the brooder when she started to flop around, and then just died.

The two left seem to be OK at this point; both eating and drinking well. However, I want to make sure they get what they need, so daughter searched BYC and found that Probiotic, Electrolyte and vitamins may help.

I bought Sav-A-Chick Probiotic and Electrolyte and vitamin supplement. And finally, my question is: Can I mix both together in the same gallon of water. Also, how long will the water last before I should throw it out? Should I refrigerate or not?

Thanks in advance for any help given.

I would change it daily especially if they kick stuff up into it. But don't fill the water container all the way so you don't waste any. I fill a gallon jug and just use what I need .

Thanks again MamaChick! OK, no refrigeration and I change their water daily anyway. They don't kick too much of their pine chips into it since I built them a little table. Just a short piece of 1/4" plywood with flat side down 2 x 4 legs. Just wide enough and long enough for them to be able to "belly up to it". As they grow taller in another week, I'll turn the 2 x 4 legs up to make their table taller; nothing gets into the water then.

Oh, and they absolutely love, love, love smashed up boiled eggs! Is it true they grow faster if given boiled eggs?

I use a supplement that has both electrolytes and probiotics in it - it's Poultry Vit Tropical - I get it from the feed stores near me. So I would think it's fine to mix them, but I do only use a batch for 24 hrs at a time. I have Ameraucanas too, they are great!

Yeah, it's weird to me how much they love HB eggs!! I don't know if it speeds up growth or not, but I use them in training to come when I call, also use them to get the chicks to use a nipple waterer. I just smear some egg on the water dispenser part, and when they go after the egg, they learn that water comes out of those things!

Yes, I have used Vitamins with Lactobacillus by Rooster Booster from TSC and many feed stores which has vits, lytes, and probiotics. Many of the name brand feeds now contain probiotics which is usually listed on the bag.
