Hen just went broody and I was getting ready to put eggs in bator. Will she sit o them long enough for them to hatch since they take longer than a chicken egg.

Tks

Yes a hen will sit till something hatches. Mine usually hatch guineas instead of chickens, and this year they have hatched turkeys too. Dont know about ducks under a broody, but I have hatched ducks and guinea eggs and turkeys all at the same time in a Incubator.

Right now there is a little bantam hen in my yard being followed by 4 ducklings who call her Mama. They're almost as big as she is now!

But I wonder how it would be if you put different species' eggs under one hen. You could put them in if they all took the same amount of time to hatch, or add them separately so they'll all hatch at the same time. Has anyone ever tried this? Is the hen still in therapy afterwards?

Go take a look at the pic I posted of the male Pekin duck who was bonded with a day old chick that I babysat for last week!
Interpoultry relations are probably more common that we would think!

I have hatched guineas and turkeys together under a hen, and the FAMILY all stick together.
