I just recommend reading what has worked for others. Raccoon can and will climb in a chainlink fence, and they do reach in welded wire. My girlfriend last summer lost a whole flock that exact way. (Welded wire cage inside 6 ft high chain link run covered with deer netting). They are not supermen, but smart and crafty. Its only a matter of time before some predator tries to get into most any coop. Its not just raccoon, but weasels and snakes.

No one is raining on your parade, just trying to save you the heartache of loosing any chickens. Its not fun.

Her coop is welded wire with a roof, and will have either chicken wire or deer netting(hopefully chicken wire) over the welded wire. Nothing will get in there!!!

It still makes you a little sad when you spend money and time and get excited about you coop and then it seems like it is not good enough.

Oh, my husband has built all the coops in my yard (12 of them) and so far not a single loss. So hopefully Zahboos will be just as strong.

Okay, I am sorry but I rant so I don't vent on people. Can you please back off. YOU'VE already expressed your opinion. You're name was NOT mentioned in my post in this thread so I don't see why you have to bring the spotlight on you. So sure, next time don't mention it.

I would be thankful for peoples advice. If they say a coon can get in..it may have happened to them before. So they know what they are talking about. I dont know what thread your talking about..was someone rude to you or something..because THATS a differant story...but giving you advice..thats not a bad thing. IMO and critters can get in welded wire...is that what you have? I had a weasel come back evedry day for like 4 days and kill some of my favorite hens. He slipped right through the wire..the little...

It wasn't just my thread. Raccoons have been beefed up on this thread in my opinion. Things just carried over from other posts. Idk y. I am glad my coop is inside a chainlink run. The chainlink is hotwired, so I think my girls are okay.

Wow. Very nice and mature.

I will happily back off, I am assuming your are a younger member. I hope in the future you will treat members with the respect they are trying to give to you.

My post was to help and save you possible heartache. Nice.
