Ok I think I’m going to go the plastic bin route but what do y’all do for heat in the winter?

Ill keep an eye on this thread. Always wanted to get quail. My only experience is going to pick up some hay. There was quail here and there all over the area (bob white whistles). The neighbor to the hay guy had a quail jail break and all the hay guy kept saying was like #$%#$@@# about having to deal with them lol.lol..

I keep mine inside. They're pets and can't stand much cold, so that's the easiest solution for me.

On the plastic bins I attach the hardware cloth with staples.

About a year ago me and my dad built this brooder that is 8 feet long and 4 feet wide, sides and top are hardware cloth and the rest is wood. It had 2 sides so I keep button quail on one and any kind of baby chicks I have go on the other, but I could also do 2 groups of buttons. They were in a guinea pig cage before but it is old and falling apart and this setup is bigger and better. I currently have 10 adults in there, and 7 chicks in a black plastic tote that I'm using as a brooder.

that looks good! do you leave the light on full time? I would switch to a ceramic heat emitter or deep heat projector if you do.

It’s fall here so I’ll probably just cut it on at night.Thanks for the suggestions,I was actually wondering what would be a better heat source.
