Can I see your indoor/house chickens?

We have 9 hens and a rooster, and they all want to come inside and look around - it drives hubs crazy

Personally, it doesn't worry me. They come in, have a look around, clean up any cat food sitting in the bowl and wander out again. The more hubs tries to keep them out, the more they want to come in!

I have a serama roo named Squeak Toy that is a house chicken. He has a dog crate in kitchen area and gets crated whenever I am not home or in the house to watch him. He likes to stay on coffee table to preen and watch t.v. Also loves to lay next to me in crook of my arm to nap. I use a hand towel under him when holding him. On the coffee table i use tissue and wet wipes to clean up his little drops!
Squeak loves to eat whatever I have. If I try to sneak food he watches my mouth and does his excited dance wanting me to share. I take sips of canned coke and leave a little in the rim for him to drink.. I also pour him water in the lid if drinking bottled water. My hubby accuses me of loving Squeak more than him.. No Doubt..

Squeak toy! What a cute name. What do you do with house pullets? What if they need to lay an egg and they have a chicken diaper on? I don't get it. How does that work?

I absolutely love this little girl. She is almost a year old (next week!) and I have had her since she was a little chick. She has almost died like 3 times but always pulls through. She has been indoor and outdoor, we're starting to bring her back to indoor now. We had 4 chickens and that's when she was half indoor, she would play in the coop with her friends during parts of the day when I was gone and then come indoors to sleep at night. But then two died (at different times) and when the second one died I started to leave her out in the coop because the other chicken was very lonely

Recently, Callie got extremely broody, even though we don't have a roo. She devoutly sat on those eggs for a month, only getting up when I would take her out of the nestbox! She got extremely skinny and I decided I needed to remove her from the coop and we took her back indoors to fatten up a bit. She's still very skinny but is doing better and starting to lay again!
My beloved dog Ginger is dying, she has bone cancer, and we're probably going to put her to sleep within the next week. My family has decided that once she dies we will bring Callie back indoors to be a total indoor chicken again (Ginger doesn't do well with the chickens. She tries and wants to but her natural instincts sometimes get the better of her...). And we're getting some silkies in March and I'm planning on keeping at least 1 of those indoor!

And as far as diapers and eggs, I honestly don't know what people do for that. I'm trying to figure it out myself. When she was younger and wore her diaper she wasn't laying yet, and recently when she came indoors and wore a diaper she had stopped laying from being so broody. So I'm actually interested to find out what other people do as well..

They can lay eggs in their diaper pouch, but you need to take it out ASAP!

If she has a Special spot she likes to lay her eggs, just take her diaper off when she's in the nest, then replace it once she lays it.

All 5 of mine are currently indoors till the weather breaks. But the one that will probably stay inside is Wilamena... she is so spoiled... when I do take her out, she enjoys it, but enough is enough... and she is over at the door asking to go in.

Here she is having her dinner with us....
