This is my house chicken, Callie the BO, after taking a bath
and this is her when she was younger
I absolutely love this little girl. She is almost a year old (next week!) and I have had her since she was a little chick. She has almost died like 3 times but always pulls through. She has been indoor and outdoor, we're starting to bring her back to indoor now. We had 4 chickens and that's when she was half indoor, she would play in the coop with her friends during parts of the day when I was gone and then come indoors to sleep at night. But then two died (at different times) and when the second one died I started to leave her out in the coop because the other chicken was very lonely
Recently, Callie got extremely broody, even though we don't have a roo. She devoutly sat on those eggs for a month, only getting up when I would take her out of the nestbox! She got extremely skinny and I decided I needed to remove her from the coop and we took her back indoors to fatten up a bit. She's still very skinny but is doing better and starting to lay again!
My beloved dog Ginger is dying, she has bone cancer, and we're probably going to put her to sleep within the next week. My family has decided that once she dies we will bring Callie back indoors to be a total indoor chicken again (Ginger doesn't do well with the chickens. She tries and wants to but her natural instincts sometimes get the better of her...). And we're getting some silkies in March and I'm planning on keeping at least 1 of those indoor!
And as far as diapers and eggs, I honestly don't know what people do for that. I'm trying to figure it out myself. When she was younger and wore her diaper she wasn't laying yet, and recently when she came indoors and wore a diaper she had stopped laying from being so broody. So I'm actually interested to find out what other people do as well..
