I will get better pics of him tomorrow. This was taken with my iPod.

These are the pics from the ad. Melvin and his family!

Ohhh okay! Light sussex, big OwO
I had a light sussex mix roo that never got to Melvin's size. I forgot what the other breed was in him.. He has a little bit of feathering on his shanks just like his half sisters (I believe they were his half sisters because of similarities and they all had sussex in them). Same characterisitics....... Oh wait, do sussexes have feathered feet or shanks? I'm still trying to figure out the father of my old rooster (deceased) and 3 of my hens. They all shared similar characteristics but were different colors. I do believe they had the same dad but different moms. I'll post pics of them too! Just to help.

What are side springs? And bird shows are about fun not winning :p
Are you talking about those feathers that are sticking out? Isn't that common for a cockerell?
If not, then snip snip~

no honey the side sprigs are on the comb. at the back of the comb it looks like. sorry he will be DQed. BUT you can still use him for showmanship. yes shows are about fun, but they are also about learning. rodriguezpoultry was trying to give you a heads up so you would not be upset at the show. Sussex do not have feathers on the shanks.

What's showmanship? I've never been to a bird show nor do I have much knowledge of them or this one that is coming up in Bakersfield.
My mom may not want to have him in the car either.. But I do plan on browsing any chickens for sale.

This! Sorry, I was getting frustrated at my iPhone and hitting all the wrong buttons so I cut off quickly. I wanted to warn you of what could happen.

Showmanship is where you handle your own bird in front of the judge and tell the judge what you know about your bird, his breed, his faults, what to look for, etc.

Soo during this showmanship.. Does the bird have to be male and does it have to be a purebred? I know more about my mutts really. I hand raised them since they were, uhm, how old is a chick when the only feathers it has are it's wings and a little bit on the tail?
They're gonna be a year old in March. Oh how time goes by so fast :')
