Unless your walls are smooth with no texture they can climb them. They can even walk upside down on the ceiling if it is textured. They can jump out of a 5 gallon bucket with ease!

Mice can get just about anywhere. Especially those itty-bitty ones. How cold does it get in your area? You’d be surprised at the temperatures chickens would be OK with and as long as you have the ventilation proper and your bedding thick enough it will stay warmer than you think inside that coop
