Can refrigerated eggs be incubated ?

Just a quick questions for you guys, (and gals). Today I had a bantam chicken attacked and killed by a fox. I still have about seven of her eggs from her in my outside refrigerator. I don't know if my bantam rooster fertilized them or not, but if there is any way to possibly raise a chick from one of the eggs, maybe I won't miss my deceased, (as of today) little sweetheart.

Im no expert, but I have heard of people sucessfully hatching eggs that have been refrigerated...it's worth a try...

It depends on how long they have been in the fridge. It'll be quite unlikely that you get many chicks, as the eggs may not be fertilized, and you've refridgerated them.

Yes i have many times. Eggs at 50 better than those that were at 70
The only baid thing is the eggs have not been turned. Try them for sure.

X-2 on above Think about it (its winter) highly likely the eggs were laid in the cold(depending where you live). If you have them shipped there in cold probably unheated truck.I would rather hatch eggs that been in above conditions than in middle of summer when its 100deg+in hen house /shipping truck...cva34

Unless I mail ordered them all of my hatching eggs are refrigerated before being set in the incubator. I typically get 90% or better hatch rate on my chickens. Just give them a chance to come to room temperature first before putting them in the box otherwise they'll develop a heavy condensation inside of the warm and humid incubator.

I agree try it out. Sounds like you don't have much to loose. Personally I have eggs in my bator now that where in the fridge and where not turned. So far 90% of them have developed as they are supposed to.

When one of my chickens went broody I tested this out, I put 4 fresh eggs (laid that day) and 4 refrigerated eggs under her. Every single one hatched

As long as the temps in the refridgerator aren't too cold, they're fine. I have a special fridge that keeps my fertile eggs at 55 degrees, never had a problem.

I had a polish frizzle along with 14 other chickens that were killed by a dog last fall. I had a few of Phyllis's eggs in the ref and I put them under a broody hen and they all hatched! I was so happy because I felt it would be a longshot. Good luck!
