Can small, flighty breeds avoid birds of prey?

A lot of books mention they seem to be very aware and very quick and that was my experience-they lay pretty good too.
I am getting some this year again.
 
Ah, makes sense. I've had Anconas before too and you are right about them. I'm looking for breeds even flightier than that.

I will get a rooster if we can. We're not talking major acreage here so it will depend heavily upon neighbors, as well as my own problems with light sleeping. Game roosters are notoriously loud, right?
 
Flightiness for me is not a predictor of how far individuals go during course of day unless a long escape flight is involved. Once birds settle in and figure out lay of land they will not go far unless on foot.
