Can Someone Guide Me To Start My Mealworm Farm?

Hello everybody

I am thinking to start raising some mealworms to feed to my quails , but have no idea how to start

can you help me?

what do I need?

how do I start?
how long will it take before I can start treating my quails?

It's a total waste of time and money....unless you want to start a meal worm farm.
If that's what you want...then knock yourself out

It's kinda like making your own yogurt....Yeah, you can do it, but Dannon can do it much cheaper, and make it more tasty

How is it a waste of money? A large sack of wheat bran -- under $10, any rubbermaid tub or aquarium that is already around the house, and your veggie scraps from making dinner + an initial investment of about 1000 mealworms for $12-13. Or, you could continue to buy 25-50 mealworms for $3-5 depending on what is available in your local pet stores. The mealworms will take only minutes of time per week.

Initial investment is less than $25 & will pay for itself within the first 5,000 mealworms or so with virtually no time spent. It's better than ANY interest you'll earn on investing that $25.

Then again, I beg to differ about the yogurt, too. I can make it more cheaply and tastier than Dannon, plus mine won't have sugar, gelatin, or any other additives -- just milk & a bit of starter. (If I'm going to buy yogurt, I'm not buying nasty Dannon. I'm buying whole-fat greek yogurt...) My costs for yogurt: any milk I have on hand & a scoop of my last batch. The only equipment needed: the wide mouthed stainless steel thermos that I already own...Hands on time per batch: 2 minutes.

We have mealworms but we didnt have heat in the house this past winter so they are setback a bit.We have them outside in a 55 gallon drum cut in half and have screen on top as well as one of our empty layer crumble bags on top for a tarp.They are doing good and are starting to pupate again.Saw some new beatles in there and a good cluster of new worms as well.

The other half of the barrel has red woyms in it.They are thriving too,and they even made one of their potato cuttings into a nice 6" potato plant.

wife got it and planted it in her garden.
