I recently got 6 chicks from a feeder store. They are all growing healthy but one. I noticed that her butt is pasty, and I keep an eye on it and clean it. She also doesnt eat like the others, or at all. She also doesnt drink barely at all. She has been falling asleep all the time just standing up. She doesnt want to be without her sisters and chirps loud when I take her away from them. She literally sleeps in my arms at night before I put her back in with her sisters. I just can't figure out what is wrong with her. She was really bad Saturday, but has been getting noticeably better over the past few days. I have to seperate her for her to eat, and even when I do that she only pecks a little at the food. She won't drink pretty much at all. She also has kind of liquidy poop, sometimes diarrhea.

if its cocci medicated feed wont treat it use corid.corid kills all 9 strains of cocci. hope this helps.medicated feed helps greatly in prevention but if they have it already treat with corid

It sounds a lot like the little chick I had. I was told to eye dropper the save a chick into her, make sure she stays really warm and mix her food with the save a chick a little honey so its all mushy and encourage her to eat it. If she doesnt then make it really watery and eye dropper that into her as well. It worked really well for one person on this site, not so much for me...its heartbreaking to watch I know. Keeping her warm is key. I used a feather duster to park her under and it seemed to comfort her quite a bit. Good Luck!! I'll be crossing my fingers for you today. I buried my little Tina yesterday. Bawled my eyes out. Also, with the pasty butt part, after cleaner her off really well with warm water, I found a thread that mentioned a little dab of vaseline on her vent to prevent more sticking. It worked really well. This site is a Godsend for us newbies.
