Can someone recommend a cat trap?

Yeah, I tried for 6 months to catch my neighbor's cat in a trap that was on loan from the pound. I caught the same possum about 9 or 10 times. LOL! Never caught the cat. After the cat had bitten my son and I complained, again, the pound came out and got it.

I hope you catch it! I think a water hose might work better. I'd be nervous about putting a powder out that smells like a predator. But, if you're in town, maybe you don't have to worry about that attracting more predators. We have to be careful out here with what we put out! LOL!

If the neighbors cat is friendly, just pick it upand stick it in a crate.

My neighbors dog kept coming over and getting after my chickens. I finally befriended it and put it in my dog pen. They looked for the dog for 3 hours until they noticed it. I told themI have already called animal control and he was on the way. So if the dog was in my yard again, they will not get it back. I have not seen the dog in over 2 months.

I have chased dogs while on horseback and you are right, it sure cures them of that habit!
However, I'm assuming you don't mean to shoot a bb gun at a cat - that could kill a cat, or cause injuries that will make the cat hole up somewhere and die of infection.

I have shot many a cat with a BB gun which was trying to get my chickens and it has never killed it. I think it has to do with the distance you shoot from. I usually have the cat coming back in a week or so. So I have limited my cat population by trapping and then calling the AC. This system has worked well for me. The cats are also crazy about fresh tuna and Ocean whitefish canned cat food.

I only know of Havaheart traps, but technically any live trap big enough for a cat to fit in will work. You can put almost anything in it. Cooked meats (pork, chicken, beef, turkey), canned cat food, tuna, canned chicken, dry cat food, cooked fresh fish/seafood (but why spend the money?), milk could work but....not the best choice. Try to get something that is really stinky AKA great for kitty noses, and that won't spoil after a couple hours outside.

I have a mare that hates dogs. If they get near her feet she will stomp it. She nearly killed a neighbors dog when it got too close to a foal once. You ain't seen anything until you've seen a horse bite a dog in the butt, drag it back from under the fence (it was trying to escape), throw the 70 pound lab in the air, and proceed to chase it down to stomp it. It wasn't even her foal, but it was part of the herd. For the faint of heart, the dog was severely injured but lived and never came back. She stomped a dog once trail riding too, and then she picked it up with her hind leg and threw it a few yards off the trail all without spooking or batting an eye. I warned the dog owner the dog would be hurt, but she was too stupid to keep her it from being underfoot.
