Hmmm...maybe.
Screws usually used there, much easier to get back out.

With this system, you use the nails that are specifically made for that roofing. They have large rubber washers on the end, so I'm hoping that'll keep out any rain once we pull them up and put them back down.

Unfortunately you can't use screws with the Ondura roofing.

Ehhhhhh.....yes you can. They sell the same rubber washer type fixtures in screw form. Usually right under the location where they store the roofing panels. I used them for my recent roofing adventure. Not Ondura, but it doesn't matter.

Do they have super long ones? We bought the washer screws as well, but they're way too short to go through the (excuse my lack of terminology) top part of the ridge into the 2x4, so I assumed we just had to use their nails.

Problem with getting the nails out is that the roofing material is probably not strong enough to lever a hammer or nail puller against without cracking....especially if nail is thru the top of the 'hill'.

As whether to fasten corrugated roofing thru the hill or the valley is about like asking why the chicken crossed the road.

Hah! Well we may just have to leave it and if they have any issues, we'll just redo the roof completely. I don't know much (or anything at all, really) about roofing, so we just followed the instructions. It made a big stink about only driving nails into the hill, not the valley. I would think that securing the roof in the valley would hold better, but what do I know? lol.

Valley would hold better, but valley is where the water runs. That's why people have varied opinions about where to attach.

While it may "hold" better ... the valley is much more likely to leak!

Maybe they make longer screws ... ???

As far as pulling the nails ... I would think if you (or someone) went on the inside with a dowel or piece broom stick ... to stuff under the roofing where the nail goes onto the 2x4 ... it might support the roofing enough to leverage (pull) the nail out by someone on the top.

Probably best to just wait and see ... time will tell if it is even a problem ...

Over all you did a great job, and the girls and chickens will benefit greatly from you taking the bull by the horns, and building it!
