Can you eat a bird with bumble foot?

I have a bird with bumble foot..that isnt really responding to treatment. I may have to put her down... (which will be good practice for the coming meaties this fall... ugh...

)
But anyways... would you guys eat her?? I dont know....

I don't know myself; but I have read that question on here several times and the general consensus seems to be, no don't eat it since bumble foot is some type of a staff infection. Makes sense to me.

I wouldnt, but you could still process her to learn what to do, just dont eat her

But Really if you think about it, im sure alot of meaties in factory farming get it, because there conditions are less then perfect.

Im sure the heat would kill it too. I looked online and some sites said 120-250 degrees is enough to sterilize equipment with infections on it, im not sure how true that is. So it really is a toss up.

You're right usschicago1 cooking will kill the staph. It would theoretically be OK to eat.

But Redhen, could you swallow knowing that it had cooked staph in it.

Imp- just reading this thread has me changing tonites dinner from chicken to ?

Actually my ducks had Bumblefoot last Winter, I finished the treatment in March, and the Vet from my Dept. of Ag said it was OK to eat them now. It just depends on withdrawal time of the drugs you gave her.
