Let me get this straight, I understand the hatching supermarket eggs sort of like a dare, dont really want to, but you have to. What I am questioning here, is if you know refrigerating ruduces chance of hatch why would you intentionally put them in the frig, did the thought of incubating catch you by surprise??? Sorta like sticking your finger in a light socket just to see if the lamp is turned on. Why????

It's not a dare Marlin that I would like to try my hatching abilities on store bought eggs....and lots of people have asked about if refridged will they hatch...my answer is yes you can hatch out fertile refridged eggs, the hatching rate will go down but yes you can...

I've had lots of people stop by my home asking for fertile eggs, when I don't have extras out I always go to the fridge and get acouple fresh cartons less than acouple days old and give them to try of the same breed....they know the hatching rate isn't as great but still want a few chicks....

In the name of science. Haven't you ever done a science project just to see the outcome for informational reasons? Karen

I just don't see how eggs that get cold can hatch. I was taught just the opposite. Doesn't it run a bigger chance of deformity? It seems to me it would. But I could be wrong. Don't take my word for it, I guess I was instructed by an old wive's tale. But I would rather use my good warm ones instead at least you know they will hatch better.
