I am a new chicken mama. Well my kiddos brought home 4 straight runs and then I purchased what was labeled as Pullets but I think they may be roosters???? My two yellow babies want me to hold them every time I am in the coop. They come to me and will jump up on me or in my arms to hold them and pet them. Both Rhode Island Reds let me pick them up and hold them. One is a little more dont touch me than the other. All 3 Barred Rocks were Pullets at the store....but the one with the redest comb and waddles ya it bites. Im not even sure what type of chickens the yellow ones are.

The yellow ones are Buff Orp pullets. Your RIRs are also pullets. Can we get better pics of 6 and 4? Maybe some profile shots.

2 and 5 are cockerels.

Here is the best I could get. I only have 3 of these and they were listed as pullets at tractor supply. :( Are they all Roos?

Can you tell me how you identify them? I would love to know going forward.

Look at your Orps. See how their comb and wattles are so small and pale? They look exactly as they should at their age. A pullet will not have large or bright red combs or wattles until they are getting ready to lay eggs. Every now and then they will have slightly large red wattles, but the comb will still be quite pale.

If the bird has large, bright red comb and wattles around this age, it is absolutely a cockerel.
