Can you help me identify the breed of these that I recently lost?

So glad I asked. Surprised and thrilled by your response. The love child is gorgeous in spite of hideous looking parent (poor baby). Hey Janie, do you/have you ever considered growing cover crops for the chickens? I am hoping to do some crimson clover and a buncha other stuff from seeds. I have been checking out True Leaf Market who has a proprietary blend.
I'm not the grower in the family. My hubs has a green thumb. I do not.
The brahmas actually do pretty good in the heat for their size, this is my Maribel at about a year and a half, she's about 27 months old now

She is gorgeous. Puts my sweet Evie to shame.
I love olives, just can't get down with the NN, lol
It took me a while. Now I can't get enough of them...naked necks, not olives.
I agree, welsummers are great. Sweat, good layers of dark eggs. They look great next to naked necks also!

@Hip Hillbilly Farm Definitely Put Speckled Sussex on your “check out for next year” list! Both should do ok in heat and are very friendly, not agressive at all, & have cool patterns! The Welsummer will also sometimes lay a dark speckled egg. 😊
Here mine is, along with my light Brahma and Welsummer pullets.

I am sorry about your losses, but I agree they are probably Marans & Dixie. Were the Marans you ordered just a mix?
Yes, they sure were. So glad you shared your babies. I find myself wondering what my Welsummers will wind up looking like. :D

I have a NN on my list for next year! DH & DS think I’m crazy, but I’m gonna give the breed a chance since I’ve heard so many wonderful things about them!

Really!!!! 🤔 maybe one should join the HHA List of Possibilities. Imagine what could come of one of them with one of the ? mystery roos I am raising up now. 10 birds I have no clue who's who or rather what's what. Will be cool to share the final result. I am hoping no more than five being roos. My thoughts are to keep, ummm, two roos for the ladies. But digressing welsummer + NN you say. Hmmmmmm . . . .

They are my #1 favorite. There have been many crosses so you can get lots of colors. My rooster

I like your new avatar! Those colors are fabulous!
I made that ankara maxi skirt (maxis are SO comfy). I shoulda kept the top (a thrift store find) 'cause now I need another. Who woulda thought fuschia and orange go together. :lau Gotta love my African heritage (psst, though I hear ankara fabric has something to do with the Dutch). Ha!
