Hi Everyone,
I am looking for some help in sexing these chicks.
I believe they are Bantam Pekins OR Bantan Silkie X Pekins - they came from some mixed eggs so i am not 100% sure- the breeder said they would be pekin X silkies or pure pekins as the father was a pekin but the mothers were mixed
They are 3 months old - one of the chicks hatched in the same batch (1 random frizzle!) has just started crowing, so they might not be far off!
Big thanks!!!!

I don’t see any cockerels (males) here. You got lucky!

Agree with Overo Mare on their sexes.

As for breed, I almost agreed that both 4 and 5 were pure Pekin and the others mixes as well, but then I noticed that number 5 has a fifth toe. Is that typical of Pekins? I thought they had four toes like our Cochin bantams over here.

I thought so, but I was questioning myself a bit there! 😊

Hoovers 😬 Somehow I am not surprised. Every time I'm tempted by chicks when I make a TSC run, I just think about the pictures I've seen of Hoover's stock and they become so much easier to resist.

May I ask why you think that #2 is a cockerel? It looks like a pullet to me because of the smallish comb and wattles.
It actually has a large comb and wattles for it's age, that are both bright red. That combined with the dark red on the wing bows and what appear to be male saddles coming in, tell me cockerel.

Compare it to the others.

Need better comb pics of 1 and 3. Chick 2 is a cockerel. Chicks 1-3 are Silkie/Pekin mixes.

Chicks 4 and 5 are Pekin pullets.
