Why would you want to? 4 week olds should be free ranging with the flock and making their own way.

Yeah I plan on putting them out with the rest of the flock soon, I just need to figure out a few logistics for them first. Why would you want to? 4 week olds should be free ranging with the flock and making their own way.
Thank you. I think I was confusing people because I mentioned the porcelain eggs...She could put one more egg under.
If it doesn't hatch, she still has the one with its mom. She can't hatch three chicks out of two eggs.
I think I’ve decided to let her try and hatch out 2 eggs. We’ll see what happens. I wasn’t sure I wanted to have her be broody but my chicken math has now gotten the better of me!Just take her eggs away. Sooner or later she'll give up and stop brooding
I’m getting pretty excited!I'd give her eggs every time. I never get tired of seeing a hen with chicks.
That’s a really cute photo of your hen and chick! When you introduced the 4 week old chicks did you have hideaways for them? My run is bare minimum in sizing for my chickens and has some places they can duck and weave through, I just worry about them being cornered. No my hen is leaving her baby and she just turned four weeks , and introducing them is fatal many times without having them in the coop inside an area where everyone can see them but not touch them for a few weeks .
now if you want your broody to set, gather a few eggs from anywhere that’s fertile and put them under her
My hen hatched out today and she’s a spitshauben, but her chicks are full blooded buff orpingtons lol , I just gave her the eggs I wanted her to hatch out View attachment 2212097View attachment 2212098
