The light one Im asuming is a Black shoulder? I thought it was a male. It has the same primary wing feather as my old male did. It also "displays" its tail and struts (but I heard females so as well?) It is also the more brave one.
My other one also displays but does not have that orangy brown primary wing feather color. Im assuming it is a India Blue?
The BS I hatched on my own, the other I got as a young chick (both from different breeders). I am more a bantam cochin person (and horse person), so thank you so much for your help :) Here are some pics below. Oh, they are about 5 and 6 months old. The BS is the older one by about a month.
Someone told me they were both hens. But I want to hear more, because not sure if I believe them.

Here is a pic of the wing feathers of the BS. I thought the orangy brown feathers meant it was a male? My blue is def a hen. Her wing color is same color as her body.

Generally yes, most peahens do have brown flight feathers, but when it comes to blackshoulder peahens, they will have the rust colored (orange-ish) flight feathers, similar to a peacock. If it was a blackshoulder peacock, at that age a blackshoulder peacock would have a lot more neck color and more black markings.

Your blackshoulder might even have a bit of spalding in her....Here is a pick of a blackshoulder splading peahen that probably has about the same amount of spalding in her as yours might:

I say your peahen might have some spalding in her because generaly blackshoulder peahens have just a patch of color on their neck, and not much of the color flecks on the neck like what your peahen has. Her crest looks tight too and the shape of her face is a bit more triangular than round. Just a theory.

Here is my blackshoulder peahen. She has laid eggs and hatched out chicks.

Markings of course vary when it comes to the blackshoulder peahens.
