Yeah, I am inclined to agree with you .. chances of me losing one my gals is very slim because free range is always supervised but if I did lose one I would be scouring the neighbourhood; posting pictures everywhere and contacting every sanctuary and Vet around the place.

If you haven't already, it might be an idea to check if she was someone's much loved and missing pet but in the big picture, she could just have easily been run over and she is in a loving home so happy ending

It seems to be staying small but eats well...we have had it for a few weeks now and I am new to chickens and would like to know what I am working with here. Thanks for all advice/answers.

You my dear have a japanese bantam black tail white hen! Sweet little girls once tame she'll make a awesome pet, sadly not a very awesome layer haha.
