Can You tell Splash from birth?

Only Sunday mornings?? I'm on it daily, lol!

sorry I don't know. I just tried searching for "splash colored favaucanas," it came up with many entries mainly about silkies.


If the color is very important to you, I think you need to buy from a breeder and get an older bird - so the color is easily determined.

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. The answer to your question is, "yes and no." Most splash babies are light and easy to pick out. Anything that looks blue as a chick, will be blue or dark blue splash as an adult. A number of the black chicks will end up being blue adults, but you have to wait for them to feather out to know for sure. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. Thanks. I did und up with one Blue adult. One Brownish and I think the new one is going to be dark blue splash. I did not know that a splash could be Dark based in color. Now it makes a lot more sense. Thank you so much!
