CANADA GOOSE BREEDERS (I found LEGAL breeders!)

Thank you all so much for the information! It has been very helpful! So, does anyone no anybody other than Chris lagerould I could get hatchable eggs from? Or goslings, but I prefer to hatch them. I asked him and he said he doesn't do eggs and his goslings are all spoken for. I just love canada geese, we have them at the parks around here and I think they are just beautiful creations, with great personalities, and I really want to raise a couple but I want to make sure I do so legally. I hope to get as many suggestions as I can because I want to find somebody with eggs or goslings before laying season is over. Thank you so much!

Most people won't sell eggs and I'd really recommend not wasting your money on eggs. Find someone with goslings and drive to pick them up, or try to find someone willing to ship them.
Eggs do not handle shipping well at all and you'd be lucky to get any to hatch no matter how many you buy. The eggs are at the very least worth $50, which is a lot of money to waste on multiple eggs.
What kind of setup would you have for them?

Ok, as of 2004. I have old bird books though and they don't recognize them as a separate species. And they are virtually the same as Canada geese. They can hybridize and they flock together frequently.
That was in 2004, and those are old books. They have been reassigned as a separate species as of July 2004 by the AOU, and by the BOU in 2005.If you look it up it will show you many results that show the Cackling goose as a different species than the Canada goose.

The broader I currently have the Chinese goslings in a brooder 8 feet long, three foot wide and 3 foot tall so it is roomy for a brooder. I am currently building the pin/coop, which has a 8x6 shelter which is attached to a 16' long by 8' wide by 8' high run covered in wire mesh (hardware cloth) for them to sleep in at night to keep them safe from the predators, and during the day we plan to let them roam our 2.5 acre fenced in property. They will have both a pool in the enclosure and in the yard.

I would help you out but my Giants have only laid two eggs so far and I have any potential goslings spoken for already. I can let you know if they successfully double clutch though. View attachment 3499957View attachment 3499958

Hi Mgg! Thanks for the reply! Do you also have regular canada geese, or just giants? I would really love to have some regulars. If so please keep me in mind, or put me on a waiting list if necessary, I am in love with the Chinese ones I currently have and they will certainly have a good and loving home, and every step will be taken to ensure a good life and protection from predators. The "coop" I am currently building could house and protect people lol. I just think Canada's are so beautiful and full of personality, and I would love to have a couple to be in my family! I love God's creation, they are so precious! So yes, please keep me in mind. And thank you very much! In the mean time, do you know of any other breeders I could check availability with? Thank you!

Oh yes, I like Chinese too. Not fatties, and so friendly! But the noise they make, so obnoxious! Once I heard an old guy at a show who had Africans say to someone: “And African geese don’t even honk, they make a doink sound,” implying that they were quieter somehow. And I was thinking: I KNOW, AND ITS SO MUCH WORSE!
As far as domestics go, I really would love some Franconian geese. But sadly, they’re not found in the US.

Hi, I sent you a pm back! I do have regular ones too.
I know one other person with some but I haven't heard if they're nesting or not this year.

One thing, if you have domestic geese I would recommend keeping Canada geese separate. Domestic geese are bigger usually and can beat up a Canada goose pretty bad.
God bless!

*show quality* Chinese and Canadas should be the same Standard weight, but the hatchery Chinese do tend to be a bit larger.
