My guess, based on the wing feathers, it's about 4-5 days old.

All I can say is secure them fast as pullets are very hard to come by since Covid 19 started. Good luck!Hi Folks, Another Canadian soon to be keeper.. We live East of Toronto...
Coop is almost built and picking up the supplies we need. Likely a few weeks away from being prepared. I am thinking we will buy ready to lay birds. Any recommendation for sourcing 5 or so birds? Maybe somewhere in the Whitby to Belleville area?
Seems that way. I have not tried hard yet... But if its difficult maybe I will wait until the other end when people realize they have to care for the birds !All I can say is secure them fast as pullets are very hard to come by since Covid 19 started. Good luck!![]()
If you are close to a TSC store or Co-op I think they are still doing their chick days. Some hatcheries have closed their 2020 hatch year though.Hi Folks, Another Canadian soon to be keeper.. We live East of Toronto...

Ya definitely ( kijiji maybe) I have newly hatched chicks but no layers sorry I can’t help.I called a co op today. They sell Frey's hatcheries. There next available batch of ready to lay hens are August 12. I have not reached out to tsc yet but I suspect they are going to have similar dates.
We have been avoiding chicks. We figure it just adds to the learning curve and gear needed. We will not be ready for a week or two yet so I will keep hunting. I think my best bet is through a small local farmer maybe.
Cheers!
