Canadians check in here....

I ended up buying birds off of Kijiji. The first seller I contacted I was trying to convince myself it would be ok. Not bad feelings about him but a through and through farmer and the birds have been raised that way. I suspected the birds have never been handled and thats not what we were looking for. So we waited... I stumbled on a 25 minute old ad and contacted the seller. It was a lady out in Grafton (10 minute drive) selling some young hens she started last year. She raises a bunch each year to sell and I happened to be the first to respond.

I ended up with 3 Red Sex Link and 2 Easter Eggers. The 5 seem pretty happy in the coop although the RSL are bullying the EE a fair bit. We will see how it goes. Today I will be adding a much bigger run for them so I am hoping that will help. I am also going to add a second perch for them and see if that helps with the squabbles as they try and settle at night. Me being a tech I have 2 cameras in the coop ;-) They are just some extra's I have around so why not. It is amazing to watch them. Since we got them they have put themselves to bed each night at 820pm.

Heres the views from the camera's!

Hey everyone! I'm in Lanark County Ontario. I just got my first chicks today and I'm thrilled.

Technically my local bylaws wants me to have a bit more acreage than I currently do but I'm hoping I can get away with it if my neighbors are nice and like eggs. I got 10 silver grey dorkings from a local breeder. He assured me that the large combs do just fine in our weather but I'm still a bit skeptical. I guess we'll see! These little babies are as cute as can be. They look like little fluffy chipmunks!!

Hi guys, I'm in Neebing, ON - south of Thunder Bay.

I just started my first flock, lavender orpingtons, ameraucanas and Swedish Isbars. (Silverudds). I would love to add a polish frizzle, some cochins and some copper marans.... If anyone has any leads on how to get some polish frizzles, I'd love to hear it. ❤️

Hey fellow Canucks :frow

I'm working on updating the Breeders' Directory. Other than myself, there are no Canadian breeders listed on BYC. This directory consists of BYC members that breed.

Anybody out there want to be added to the directory?

Fantastic idea, and I for one appreciate you gathering up the contacts you can! I don't breed yet, but theres a few special babies I'd like to add to my flock before I even start to think about it, so that list will come in super handy in the future! :love
