So glad you joined us!

I think upper to lower Saskatchewan flooded last year! Especially on the East side! As we are upper east Saskatchewan and flooded andcso high of humidity that it killed chicks! Also our water table was right under the surface! Broke water lines like crazy in our yard!

There is a couple really neat herb books for this area!
I don't think it was as bad last year on the western Manitoba side up there as it was in 2014 (I could be wrong though)...but I guess you guys are still getting it.
Breaking water lines...ugh! Not fun.

Wickedchicken6: lol I'm closer to Yorkton. That flooding has tempted us to maybe just plant rice and be done with it!

Although, I think you guys got the worse end of the stick this year, but it always changes... Here's to hoping that next year will be better!

moving coops: lol Pretty much! Made for an interesting harvest, for all the wrong reasons! Do you have the titles for those books?

We definitely aren't very close then...lol. I keep suggesting the rice too! No one listens...lol. Right where we live it's worse than around us. We can't get on the fields and everyone else is busy dusting it up! Amazing and frustrating...lol.

Well, our snow is finally starting to melt again! The ladies and Gimpy will be very pleased... as will our cat, Olive not so much (our dog), she's been having a ball!!

It certainly put a dent in my gardening plans, so I'll be happy to see it gone too! We were about to set up our greenhouse, hoop house and a few cold frames. I'm hoping we'll be able to beginning of march at the latest, we'll see how the weather behaves

The ladies are back to laying good though, and were gearing into doing our first hatch. Were collecting the eggs from our girl Lynx X'd with Gimpy. She lays the darkest egg out of all our layers so far (We have 6 little pullets, nearing lay) probably between a 5-6 on the maran scale. Occasionally there will be a 7, probably at the beginning of her cycle. I'm hoping to grow out a few more good layers like her with the darker eggs, here's to hoping for the best

Our little Swedish Flower Hen had laid her first egg the other day, it was adorable, somewhere in between a small chicken egg and a quail egg. Hasn't laid one since though.

On the other hand, right after this hatch with Lynx's eggs, we'll be in the process of receiving our Cayuga duck hatching eggs...I'm so excited!!! Glad to have found someone nearby too who breeds them.

This way I'm hoping I don't need to deal with shipped eggs, and can figure out a way to pick them up instead if it all works out.

Hope everyone else is staying warm, healthy and the eggs are in good supply!

Sounds like a real nice variety!
I'm brand new and am awaiting Euskal Oiloa eggs to hatch in a friend's incubator. I'm trying to learn all I can on BYC so I can do well with my new chicks! I would also like to get some Welsummers and start with that for this summer.
