Hello fellow Canadians. Ive been on BYC for a couple of years now, (since I got chickens)
Got 6 hens when we moved to rural Ontario, from downtown Vancouver. Now, I have .... well, a LOT more. It is a bit of an addiction.....
Have been looking for some marans hatching eggs and maybe some swedish flower hens too. For local stuff Im usually on the facebook pages, but I just saw that there is a CANADA thread and thought I'd say hello.

Wow, some beautiful feather patterns there. We got ours from a family farm. Hatched together and very well cared for. Actually, the teacher had her alternative ed students caring for them. We have black copper maran roosters to sell or swap, now 6/7 months old. Love our malines.

Hello everyone!. How is everyone doing with the Covid pandemic? Did everyone buy or get the chickens or chicks you wanted this year? Shortage in your area? Did you find prices up? Are your this year's pullets laying yet? For me, I pre ordered two new pullets in March. A Bovan brown and Lohman white. Both have been laying every day since I got them in May. Great birds! I also ordered 13 extra chicks from the university program in January as I wanted five new hens. I got some pullets from the bunch! I drove six hours one other day in April to get more breeds. All in all, added eight new hens to my flock! My Barred Rock started laying this month. We have black copper marans. Just maturing now, but we can see that the eggs are fertile. Not really a breeder, and not planning to keep our Roos long. Down by Kamloops, Salmon Arm, Vernon if you want a bird...think it’s too cold to ship right now by plane. Used to live up North and my eggs got cold in the mail. Very poor hatch rate. Wait for West Jet
