Canadians check in here....

:frow Hello! I've been a long-time lurker on BYC and have recently moved to BC from overseas. I'm hoping to work on establishing a small flock later this year, but I'm still getting familiar with Canadian hatcheries and shipping practices, does anyone have any recommendations for sourcing chicks on the West coast?

In the meantime while I am very impatiently waiting for my own little fluffballs, it's a delight and an inspiration seeing everyone's beautiful birds.

(Also hoping for better conditions soon for all those affected by the wildfires.)
I think Rochester hatchery ships Canada wide, but I’m not 100% sure. These are their retailers, but we get chicks shipped from them.

Thank you, some of these are not too far from me, this is great! There are so many different chains here that I'm not used too yet, it helps to see a list like this as well.

I'm coming from the US gulf coast (Louisiana). Not a huge culture shock by any means, but there are enough subtle differences to really keep me on my toes, especially since no one around me here has dealt extensively with chickens. Thanks for the tip! I've already been getting too hyped up browsing :wee

That's a good tip, I've already joined one FB group that was recommended to me by someone local. I'll be in Fraser Valley, so that's my starting point for searching around. Still debating what the makeup of the flock will be, but I have plenty of time to decide.

Anyone near Belle River ON interested in rehoming a super friendly pet muscovy drake? He mixes well with other ducks and is not aggressive to other drakes. His owner cannot keep him where she is now living. She rehomed him to afarm but thinks he was not fed adequately. He is now temporarily with a friend but the friend has too many drakes and cannot keep him. Private message me if you are interested and I will put you in touch with his owner.
