I'll have to drive down Mill Street to see the house than I might be able to recognize who they are.
So you live in a haunted house... I don't know if I've ever driven down rd 42, probably, on one of my backroad trips to soccer games. Get this, our house has been in my hubby's family for over 100 yrs and the man who originanly owned it and lived here murdered another man back in the 1850's that lived about 3 lots behind our property. As I was doing some family history I came across this, and I was trying to who exactly was murdered and weird things started to happen, and one day some antique platters that I had up on a shelf "flew" off and smashed to pieces, no other explanations for it, as they have been up there for years. Creepy to say the least!
How haunted is your house??

I have no idea if the egg shack sells chicks, I've never been there before, I got mine through the Co-op on Taunton Rd by the 115.

Do you work at the Oshawa Police station?? Our next door neighbors the Galipeaus work there I think. Lots of cops live right in the Kendal area, always good to have around when you live in the boonies!!

Oooooooh I love haunted house stories
Apparently the house across from Clarke HS on the 115 is always for rent (the bottom 1/2)
Landlord can't keep it rented because it has an "angry" ghost

ooooh do you have the Belden Atlas? I bought one from Bowmanville museum and my house is in it....
Yours is probably in it too....!
I think mine is around page 57?
Built in 1872 (approx) by the "osbournes"
Changed hands in 1927 and we bought it last year

I haven't noticed anything but when my daughter was 2.5 we were in the bath and she looked over my shoulder at the servant stairs (we have two doors that lead into the bathroom) and said "who is that guy?"

She saw a man and at that age only separated people by the colour of their shirts......

After my heart stopped racing I said "what guy?"
ep.gif

said "the pink guy /w the beard"

Even now that she's 3 - she says he told her his name is Campbell - he lives in that room (which way back then was a bedroom for the hands not a bathroom of course) and that he's a cow farmer....

When you look in the atlas the photo of Mr Osbourne he has a beard but his first initial is "r" not "c"

She always seems to know where he is whether or not he's even in the house...strange but he seems to really care for her so....
I hope he stays

I love the fact you have a spooky history in your house...it really fascinates me.....
What were you doing when the plates smashed? Do you know his name?

Any of your kids ever see him or hear him?

Reg rd 42 is Darlington-Clarke Townline Rd so its definitely on the way to Darlington Soccer fields

Oh and yes the Galipeaus both work here
One Sergeant , one Detective
Ya I find most of us who work here tend to live away from
people in general

It sounds like you've got lots of history in your house!! As long as you have a good ghost that's great!!
When my dishes flew off the shelves, I was cooking dinner (go figure, maybe they didn't want me using those platters!!) My kids were all watching t.v. in the other room, so it was just me in the kitchen. I think the ghosts name would be William McLean, his family owned quite a bit of land here, and there is a small cemetery just up the road from us named after the McLean family. He didn't die around here though, somewhere else in Ontario, but maybe he found his way back here. After he did the murder, he walked right past our house (eek) on his way to the Orange Hall. As for the guy he murdered, we are not sure if his first name was Robert, but his last name was McKelvey. We've been doing some tracing and found him alive living near here in about 1848, but no trace of him in 1850, but he had brother's who lived a few lots over from where he was. We're stumped!!

I'm sure that our deceased family members play tricks on us here too, things disappear over night, and I find things in the oddest places. I'm sure they are getting quite a chuckle . I sometimes hear voices when everyone is sleeping too.
I'm glad your daughter is well looked after by your ghost. I don't have that Atlas, I should get a copy of it, history fascinates me.
So I guess that why the house across from Clarke HS is always looking for someone to rent it. That's the one where they breed Mastiffs isn't it?

Next time I drive out to Wallyworld, I'll have to look for your house!!

I just got thinking, maybe that's why my 4 yr old keeps waking up at night, she hears tapping on her walls.

The Galipeaus are right next to us, their property actually used to be part of our property long ago. Nice huge house I tell you!!

Do you do any geneogly research, it's neat to see who was around in certain census years, and see where they ended up. I also went to the local cemetery to see where all my hubby's family was buried, pretty neat seeing ones buried back in the 1890's and up.

Hmmm McKelvey....
I know a Johnny McKelvey - he used to live on Darlington-Clarke Townline Rd too!

Nice guy but a bit of a crazy man

Sure stop by anytime you are coming to town
Darlington Clarke Townline Rd south of Clarke Con Rd 4- east side - we are the only house between the 3rd and 4th con of Clarke

Maybe you can tell me what kind of chickens I have
I seriously have no idea

I have one meat chick (which I don't even know if thats a proper breed type?) He's white and his name is MEAT...but he's a pet
I have a crazy Roo chick who is grey and spotted white
5 chick females - 3 black and one that looks like a Robin
An angry broody Hen

and................

I went to the egg shack to see if they could sell me a fertilized egg - they didn't have any but gave my 3 yr old
a white Rooster.....she named him the Kernel......
(spelling it Colonel was too confusing)

and he's a whole different story ....
Going to post that one to get some feedback....

Unfortunately I'm on nights this long weekend but then I'm on holidays!!!

re: the haunted house on hy 115 ...they might breed Bull Mastifs at that house I'm really not sure....all I know is that renters don't stay long and apparently it's cuz the ghost is nasty
I'd love to go in there and stay a night..just for fun

Where did you get your chicks from?? Your white chick "Meat" is probably a white rock chicken, will grow quickly because they are a breed that is meant to grow fast by 8-10 weeks of age they are ready to be processed because they get really fat and have problems with their hearts etc. I don't know much else about the different breeds of chickens, this is the first year for us too. I got my chicks from Frey's hatchery, www.freyshatchery.com, you might see the birds you have on that site. You're black chicks may be the black sexed link birds which are a cross between RIR's and something else .
Lucky you getting a rooster from the egg shack, I'll have to stop there some day.

Do you have the lot and concession number of your property? I may be able to find out who all the different people who lived in your house going by the census's from the late 1800's to the early 1900's, maybe I can find out who your "ghost" is!

Oh I forgot to write down what lot and con we are....
Ok 'll remember for night shift tomorrow...
That website was great thanks

seems I have 3 black sex links chicks
one crazy barred rock rooster babe
a leghorn roo
white rock (pet)
Rhode Isle Red x Columbian Red Hen
and I think an RIR chick
