Candeling and hatching diary.

all the eggs, no smell, I could see in them before and saw veining etc.
Your not seeing any air cells on any of the eggs?? How many eggs are we talking. Take one out and smell it, just to be absolutely sure it's not rotten and going to explode on you. If you can do it to all of them.. Perhaps it's the item your using to candle is why you can't see them, perhaps it's not bright enough..

If your not seeing any air cells I'd be quite worried. Like earlier suggested are you using a bright enough candler? How far along are they?

O.k., candled again saw a few air cells! One was on the wrong end so I laid that one flat, the rest I put upright in an egg carton like they were in the turner .... wish me luck!

Horribly sad beyond belief. A bunch of babies started to unzip last night. Everything looked great so I went to bed. My dog got curious and sniffed the incubators hearing the noises knocking the lid sideways. I just woke up this morning and found a bunch of the chicks dried out, they didn't make it through the hatch.

****** beyond belief. I'm done hatching eggs.

Awwww hun I'm so sorry to hear this. But don't give up

Yay for the babies.

I do have sad news my dog killed all but one of my babies. The very last Ancona made it because it was still in the hatcher. The dog is now gone and the line duck is sleeping in dh's lap. But I have 2 ducks due Thursday and s goose that was set at the same time as the ducks. I also have 10/10 mixed color Polish developing on day 4!!

When you say GONE? Do you mean you Killed the dog or just gave it to a new home?

So sorry to hear about your loss....

So sorry to hear this, I don't know what I'd do in this situation. Probably kill the dog or at the very least find it a new home. I'm very fortunate my 2 dogs(Bichon & Husky/Jack Russel Terrier) love the birds and enter all the coops at all times, watch over the chick and never once have I had a problem. If I had I feel it would be better for them to be at a home where they wouldn't be enticed.

I have 3 external pips this am Day 21, 1 EE and 2 BLRW so far. I accidentally dropped a BLRW lastnight candling but it only cracked the shell. I hope I didn't kill it, gah with my over excessive candling. Maybe some day I'll learn to have some self control, maybe not.

We had a german shepard that killed, I tried very hard to train this dog, because we did not want to get rid of it. I walked it in the coops with me, let the chickens jump on him etc, as soon as my back was turned. BOOOM, he was at them.

So we had no choice, the dog WENT. had to get rid of him. Even though we were sad about it, my chickens came FIRST!!!
