Candeling and hatching diary.

Just candled the 10 in lockdown(day 19) and all but 2 of them have a growing air cell so does that mean they died? I normally don't move them around so much so it could be the cause if I did kill them when I moved them over. It's running at 99deg with 65-70 humidity. I can't seem to see movement but it's not the right time of day even with a blanket over me to keep the temp from dropping to low. It's so dark in there you can't see any veining anymore. I also candled my double yoker due the 11th and still 2 growing chickies, wouldn't it be nice if they made it?! I just set another 11 eggs; 5 EE, 3 BLRW, 3 SS with this weather they sure aren't laying for me well. I went thru to add my next hatching sheet and this will be my 9th set. I must be crazy with so many staggered batches and only 3 incubators running and one for the hatcher. Once the bigger hatches get ready towards Easter I'll use the bottom of my bigger home made one for hatching also. And then theirs the overwhelming worry, Where the heck am I gonna put all these chicks in my house. It's too cold outside. We are under a winter storm warning for 8-10 inches of snow, wish it would be done already. Just as you see grass it hits again.

No large air cells does not mean they died, especially if they were shipped and the air cells were detached or loose..

Get your humidity down, needs to be about 60-65 not 70.. If using a stil bator need to get temp up to 101..

I just candled again to recheck aircells and one of the questionable ones is now progressing but the other is not. I'm sure it's a quitter but will wait. I'm using my latest home made incubator for hatching right now and I installed 2 computer fans. I dropped the humidity down some and holding like you said 60-65. I have 2 internal pips, one EE and one BLRW is chirping and a few more look close to it. I'm so excited! My first hatch of the season, last year was my first experience with incubating and no matter how many times it's still like the first.

Just candled my silkie eggs at 5 days 5 were very visible and I could see the eyes but 1 looked infertile but 5/6 is pretty good. I am going away so hoping for the best , fingers crossed !!!!:)

You may have a quitter but just hang tight.. He may surprise you too.. Lol, it's always a joy to see those buggers trying to escape jail. I think this is the only time we do want to see anything escape from the cell. Lol

Sort of speaking...once one comes out, the process should go a little quicker, just hang tight BABIES ARE COMING..... LOL

Just wanted to give everyone an update looks like I will be in Colorado for a while. My Foster Dad is very ill he had a blood order that they were treating that has sense turned into leukemia it was affecting his lungs and his blood marrow but they had gotten it under control but unfortuantly the treatment did not keep it out of his brain and he now has a lesion on his brain. We found all this out because he fell on tuesday he was not found right away when he fell right away and as a result aspirated and has pneumonia now. We are now waiting for the pneumonia to clear up so that he can be taken off the respirator after he is taken off the respirator we will then decide whether or not to start radiation on the lesion. This is a very stressful time I am not sure what the future holds all I can do is sit and wait and pray. On a different note the 100 eggs I locked down before I left on wed. are ow hatching my daughter is taking excellent care of them and so far there are 37 healthy chicks there were three chicks that were weak when I left from the previous hatch and unfortuantly they did pass away but I know that we can not save them all. TY for all you kind words, thoughts and prayers and I will keep you posted.
