Candeling and hatching diary.

I could only find my daughters Pink nail polish lol. When I see that they are floating I let them sit 48 hours befor I put them in the bator they are never laid down and I do not turn for the first couple days once I start incubating them and then once I do start turning it is only 3 times a day by hand I try to set the in a way to minimize the momement of the air cell when I turn them. the current batch has saddle air cells and everything they are due to hatch saturday I limit any kind of movement of the egg other then turning if I candle I candle them in the tray and now they are in lock down inside of egg cartons. I will be curious to see how these go because they are the worst detached I have ever seen.

Wooo this should be interesting then, because nail Polish has a chemical In it.. So you have life in a detached air cell, not a loose one I mean a completely unattached air cell. Hum. I'm gonna have to give your theory a shot. I tried the Sally's theory and it did not work..

OH MAN THOSE LOOK GOOD, LOOK AT THOSE SPIDERS AND I AM NOT A FAN OF SPIDERS.

That is really cool. Good job..

Thanks. If anyone is interested I can share the excel file for it.

Just candled and 12 of first set are alive and moving, 10 from 2nd set are all veined, even the double yoke Speckled Sussex im keeping in just to see if it will hatch. I set 23 more in the Hova-bator and pick up 2 doz from guy at feed store on Friday and possibly 2 doz tomorrow from the farm. Less than a week for my first lock down and very excited, will be my first hatch of the year.

Congrats on the duck eggs going well so far.

AND THE DISEASE HAS KICKED IN. LOL

Disaster struck last night one of my sweet kiddos turned the hatcher off. I am a bit upset the temperature was down to 75 by the time I got up. I am very upset hoope everyone still makes it this batch has had a rough go with there severe detached air cells and such I am going to candle for movement in a bit. I know they are in lockdown but no internal pips yet one egg (the only one out of 13) is on day 21 today the rest are on day 19 with a Saturday do date. Although the second batches do include bantams which can hatch early I know the air cells seem very big in all of them.

Set 28 eggs for lockdown this morning! Hopefully I get a few hybrids that hatch of my own flock, the majority will be new birds. I'll most likely try running another batch of my own later this summer, should generate some unique looking mutts!
