Candeling and hatching diary.

Mareks is every where, it's hard to avoid it but you shouldn't let that discourage you.  unless you go and have it lab tested you are not going to know for sure.

I have a Silkie who had a leg flaring out, could not use it, was going out to the side of her etc.... First thing of course I thought was like you OMG, NO, I have over 200 chickens LOL not counting all my ducks, so you can understand my Panick,  this thing is going to wipe out my entire Flock right?  Well after I was done freaking out just like you, I confined her and put a Vitamin B in her drinking water, Today she is out side acting like a hen even laying eggs.  What was the problem, The boys got SOOO rough with her, they injured her leg.  Now there was visible signs except her leg was to the side of her, No cuts or outside noticeable marks.  But she couldn't walk on it, it took OVER a month before she started using it again.  If you saw her you would or anyone would probably said YEP Mareks, well in my opinion she should be either dead or the "boys" and the Other girls that she was with should be showing signs as well.  needless to say, ALL is very well.. She's even got herself some kids. LOL,

So when you get a problem, try to trouble shoot the problem instead of assuming the worst, try to treat her the best you can.  If it ends out great you pat yourself on the back if you it doesn't  then you have to rethink your problem.. Yours may have had the same issue as my Silkie.  Just a sore leg or a leg issue, who knows like I said unless she's lab tested positive then OK, YEH can't argue with that. LOL

Haha thanks for the reassurance .Candled my eggs again today didn't see much movement and a thew vains which I'm not sure if it is blood line :/
Thanks again
Ps. The chicken that died had no crockrail and just woke up like it .I can not wait till hatching day :)

Well
Has it been at least 24 hours since the chirping?
..well.....bad news. He died in the shell. Never pipped through. I opened it carefully just to make sure. Evidently he was in the wrong position...he was facing down... I feel terrible....

This is the first baby that hatched earlier. He's already skimming the tops of the other eggs and kicking them everywhere. He also hopped in the open container of water coming after me, so I had to remove it and place it with a wet sponge. Check out that comb.

Baby 2!

As soon as baby 2 came out, he hobbled over there and sat on baby 2.

baby 2! Hatched about 5 minutes ago!

The duck that just hatched fully around 2 today was due yesterday at noon. It started moving on Saturday then internally pipped on Tuesday. I found a tiny external pip on Wednesday and it finally pushed it of it's egg today.
One of my two died in the shell. The other externally pipped before 10:00 am this morning and no further progress....
