Candeling and hatching diary.

Almost time for lock down. Candle tomorrow and lockdown on Wednesday. I was wondering, I have my eggies in an egg crate, and turn them myself, do I take them out and just lay them in the incubator to hatch?
What are you hatching? Chickens or ducks? I have always laid my mind down..but for chickens can hatch out in the turner or in an upright positions. However, ducks need to be laid down..

I take the holders out and let the chicks run round the incubator intill they are ready to come out , you might want to check though !

First chick hatched today (day 20 ) looking really cute !

I haven't been on the computer, as I've been really busy.

I made the right choice. Baby has irritated eyes, but yolk is gone. Vent is a normal vent. Baby is up- very tired and still unsteady on it's legs but everything works. She swims well (had her swim for just a second to see leg movement). Holds herself up, drinks water, snuggles with the other ducklings.

I think that this baby is beautiful. My first own baby from my first own ducks- it's a mutt but it's fine by me. Indian runner x rouen cross.

AWEE sweet, however they should not be swimming until they are a week old. The only reason why they can with a momma duck is because she puts oil on them when they are under her wings. We can not produce the same oil to put on them, so we allow them one week to produce there own.

Good deal...

I'll keep her out of the water. I sort of felt off doing it, I just wanted to make sure she was working properly if you know what I mean. She's working wonderfully. I appreciate your help greatly and encouragement.

Hatching chickens. So, I should leave them in the carton?

One if mine had incredibly weak legs and how I solved it was pit the baby on one side of the room and get them to walk to the other and now she's doing even better than the other ones :D
