Candeling Brown Eggs?

Having a real hard time. Hoping some of you have figured out something bright enough? I've got 21 brown eggs in the 'bator, and it's bout time to do it

It depends on how dark the egg is. I was able to candle my friends 11 brown eggs at day 6 and I seen veins in all but 1. She has RIR, BR, Orp and a red sex link. How dark are your eggs?

First of all ... GOOD LUCK...

I've hatched Barnevelders, Welsummers and BCMs this year. All are very tough to candle. Especially early.

I've managed to do an OK job at 12 -14 day but earlier is almost impossible for the really dark eggs.

Oh I use a 3 watt LED mini mag light with the plastic lens removed. Just make sure you're in a VERY dark room and let you eyes adjust for a bit. And then DO NOT look into the mag lite between eggs. LOL hard to see anything after that.

mine come from buff orps, and the shells are pretty dark. I couldn't see through then at day 7 and now it's day 14 ... Oh well, no stinkies yet!
