Candid game cam pix: and the life of my chickens

Last night's catch. Scared girl dog. We suspect a "drop off" because we have NEVER seen her before, not even on game cam pictures. She growled at us when we walked up, didn't act like a pet. We took the cage and all to animal control and they had to wrangle her out with a pole - she was NOT happy!!

My game cam needs batteries today. So that means these have lasted, uh from September till February with plenty of DAILY use, and I mean LOTS of pictures. The cold probably didn't help them either.

Last night I put the game cam in the very back of the trap, so I could see if dogs were coming partially inside and then escaping. Except I caught a small dog instead! lucky me I got like 2k pictures of her, no wonder my cam needs batteries

Three dogs came sniffing around. After seeing the 3 together, I think I've seen the two "pups" last winter running loose. At first I thought she was a drop-off, but after reviewing the pictures I think maybe they just live a long ways from me. I have no idea where.

Pretty skinny, though not terrible, which is why I thought perhaps a recent drop-off?

Here you can see the black dog

The other 2 dogs did a lot of digging and trying to get into things. Here you can see the tan one trying to get on top of part of the chicken pen:

After the other dogs left, she spent about 3 hours crying for them, before FIL and I arrived and took her the the pound. Deleted a lot of pix like this

The pitty that I'm trying to catch (one of the two that killed 3 roosters) came to visit her

I think I would have better luck trapping him if I could get "dog in heat" urine for bait instead of food. They sell it for deer....but I guess there's not much market for trapping domestic dogs.....

It is sad both ways... It is sad that people can't keep their dogs at home so they don't eat your bird and on the other hand it is sad that the dogs that don't know any better have to go to the pound because of their owners stupidity! They don't know any better if they haven't been taught... They look like hound mixes to me (hunting dogs) so their owners should know better then to let them roam freely. It really makes me mad!

Thing is. This is in the city limits. I have called animal control and COMPLAINED about the pittys at large, BEFORE they even killed any of my birds. I don't know why I have to pay taxes to the animal control, they can't seem to enforce the leash law that we already have.

I think the dog with the target on it's back is too smart to go into the trap. He thought about it, then ran off.

Caught the Cocker Spaniel again. Her name is Daisy. This is at least the 3rd time I've caught her. She's a sweetie. Doesn't cause any trouble so I let her go again. A big black Lab lives/escapes with her.

Today there was a new Pitty puppy running with the other two. Don't know if it has the same owner or not. It was very sweet and friendly, and didn't try to dig or climb into my pens. I might have taken it to the animal control for being allowed to run loose, except I had to work 10-5 and they are only open from 12-4, so I let it go too.

wow, so many loose dogs. That would make me crazy.

I think when you let them go you should put a note on their collar if they have one.
Get a pet porcupine?
