I candled my eggs today, 17 1/2 days of incubation. I have read that at this stage you often can't see anything in there. I can see the air space, a light colored area of blood vessels under it, some chick fuzz and large shadow/dark area, and a light area at the small end. The shadow is probably takes up the center 2/3 of the egg. Are these chicks too small? They are moving...so still alive!

There is a sticky on the incubating process. Check it out, it'll help...
The link is in the only sticky in Incubating & Hatching Eggs

I uploaded some pics of todays candling...they look similar to those in the link you suggested....they don't show the end of their eggs though.

do you know for sure your temp has been accurate the whole time? my first hatch i found out halfway through that the temp was too low by a couple degrees, my chicks took 2 days longer to hatch then normal. they could just be a bit behind... but they look pretty normal to me.

I have been told that my target temp of 100 may be a bit low for still air. If they might be behind, should I proceed as planned of keep turning and pretend we are on like day 16 instead?

no, just keep them on the same schedule as they should be. they could be behind, or they could just be smaller chicks but i was told to keep them the same schedule and mine turned out okay.
