Candling DARK eggs

Could not hear tapping. Took it into a very dark room and candled and was able to identify a lighter area near the fat end. Gently carved out a tiny hole - no blood, can see movement/breathing inside. Cranked humidity and put it back in. Hopefully this gets it going! This is nerve wracking! Looks good! Hang in there!

I’m giving it another half hour. Have to be back at work at 1:00 ET for a couple hours. Hoping he starts the zip but I’m also wondering if there are humidity issues and he can’t turn in there. I want to get him out before I have to go back to work!

Well, no chick. rotten nasty sludge in there. I swear I felt movement and the membrane wiggle when I made the hole but I must have been imagining it. Dark eggs are hard! Definitely don’t recommend for a first hatch.
