Do most of you on BYC candle your eggs or just leave them alone? Also my bator is doing the best it has ever done at holding temp so should i just leave it alone?

"Lockdown" is not a term in my vocabulary. I candle at 7 and 14 days. At 18 I put them in the hatcher and I come and go as I please if humidity is to low. I also remove chicks as they fluff so I can make room for the others. I haven't lost a chick yet. Don't worry if you have them out for a few minutes here and there. What do you think a hen is doing for 21 days? She gets up and moves around too.

I have to chain myself away from the incubator...I always peek at three or four days and then check again at 10 or 14 days. It's SO hard when you're still new to it to stay out of there...All my eggs are developing except for a couple that seemed to get their air cells damaged in shipping so I don't think it does them any harm.

I couldn't resist doing it!

And once I did I ended up candling a couple of more times before lockdown.
