Candling pics...help. So many questions.

We are all going to need therapy!!!!! I can't believe how wonderful it felt to see those veins! Good luck vamp-a-billy.....I know that stage has to be impossible!!!

I just can't wait to tell everyone tomorrow I have developing babies. I will try to be good and not check a brown egg tonight. Soon, however......

Good luck!! Good luck good luck! Day 19 here now. No pipping, no wiggling, no peeps...just my six eggs in the incubator saying "leave us alone!" I finally got my temp to be somewhat normal...vamp-a-billy outlasted me last night with her eggs. Now I am having my coffee and getting ready to go feed the chicken/chicks and start the day.

Hatching eggs IS Therapy. Yep, I think I can muster up some anxiety when I think about putting the incubator away for the summer....I will put it away close, like in the bedroom closet. Just in case I need more therapy.

I candled on day 4 and saw NOTHING. I thought was a lost cause, but I left them all alone and candled again on day ten and saw about 3/4 had chicks!! My advice to you is to keep an eye on temp and humidity for the next 6 days and LEAVE them ALONE until then. (Unless your turning by hand, then keep turning lol) Then candle on day 10, and by then, you'll see the chicks if they're in there!

Good morning!!! My little egg is wiggling this morning!!!! I swear I heard a peep coming from the incubator!! OMG... I'm gonna cry... today is day 23!

c'mon, chickie!!!!

I think you're going to have a VERY good hatch rate. Know in your heart that they're growing in there, and need to be left alone. Give it another week, and you'll be so happy!

OMG!!!!! I am so happy for you!!!! He should be there soon!!! I have no clue why I keep calling it a he!!! LOL Keep us updated. I just can't wait to hear one cheeping in there!!! I have awhile though!!!

I plan to keep my hands off the babies except for turning them. For now!!! I waited until I thought it was safe to start calling everyone this morning squealing "I see babies!!!!". My mother is really excited since she will be getting some of these guys if I have a good hatch. My kids had a fit!!! I showed them the pic with the veins. They are about as excited as I am!!!!

I hope by calling it a "he" that you're right...

I really want a rooster to carry on Cogburn's line. I have more eggs coming next week from the same woman, and we're doing everything possible to make the trip up as easy as possible on the eggs. We think they were handled too rough, and the airsacs were disrupted.

Have a wonderful day!

Yeah, the one who quit smoking here. Doing....ummmmm.....reasonable.

Not completely quit....smoke one now and then when I feel like I am going insane. However, I was smoking about a pack a day, now it isn't a pack a week. I think the cold turkey thing would have killed me!!!! Trying hard though.

Well, my little incubating egglets are: Roo was a Golden Campine. The hens are Gold Laced Wyandotte, White Leghorn, EE, Rhode Island Red, And Red Sex Link. Gonna be quite a mix, I just really wanted some babies from my precious little roo since he was killed. I actually rushed out and bought an incubator just to avoid losing the last thing I had of him.

So, I guess you could call them all little accidents. LOL

You are going to have some pretty babies in there! Quite the mix! LOL!
I have a Light brahma roo, and I now have crosses with RIRs (look just like the brahma only a slightly pink tint to the white), Black australorp (GORGEOUS coloring - black with the green tint, but the chest feathers have the lacing like the brahma in white... very pretty!), white leghorn, and barred rock. Very interesting to see the dominant traits in these mixes. I have a brown americauna that he's been with... wonder what that would look like? I may get the chance next week, because I'm going to put some of my girls' eggs in with some shipped eggs as "controls".
