It's what's normal for you. Everyone is differnt

I can say for me it hasn't bothered me in the least. I have chickens, and chicken is still my preferred meat of choice. My chickens even love chicken - it's their favorite left over other than pasta. I can't eat fish (makes me sick - literally - something about it just doesn't work with my system) - and beef is not a top favorite. Chicken or pork. That's all I need. Wish I had room to store lots of food. I may get a big freezer and start processing my own birds. It doesn't seem difficult - my biggest worry would be the first few - I'm not good at kiling things and have never even seen a bird processed - so would definitely need to find someone that could teach me.

I didn't get the chance to read everyones' responses but I laughed when I saw the title of this thread. I thought you were allergic at first

6 years ago, I unfortunately found out that I am allergic to chicken and eggs. I can eat a small serving of chicken once a week, but I have to watch my reaction. And I can't put a bit of egg in my mouth or my throat will swell to the point of NEARLY closing. I can bake them in a cake or something (I guess it's broken down better that way) but no plain eggs.
I also noticed that for the first 4ish months of having chickens, I didn't eat any at all. I didn't do it on purpose but possibly subconsiously.
So I guess, yeah, it's probably pretty normal even when you don't realize you're doing it.

I'd love to whenever you are ready. I started this year and learned just from BYC with no outside help in the form of a human

It can be done

I'm going to try and find a way to get a nice freezer into either my basement or my garage - it's the only place I'd have room - I'd like to give it a go in the spring - I know my son (15yo) has been asking me all summer now to do it ... just not set up for it though.
what do you do with the guts and feathers though ? I suppose I could toss them in the woods behind me, but that would just attract the coyote and fox to come closer ... they come close enough already - I hear them out back all the time. It's amazing the creepy sounds a fox can make.

I always try and use all of the chickens but my Dual purpose roos don’t have any extravagant feathers usually. I toss those in the garbage but everything else that I don’t use (feet, head, intestines except heart and liver) I either dig into the manure pile for composting or under a tree for fertilizer. Works great. And the fun part is, since I have been processing, my husband doesn’t give me any more grief about incubating. But then again, I have the best hubby ever
