It's why when you were shopping incubators last week I suggested that the Brinsea ECO 20 was great because you did not have to open it to turn the eggs... Temps stay the same too because you just don't "need" to open it...

Let it be for a day and it will stabilize. Folks say you can run up to 60% with no appreciable problems...

yes you were the one that was a little rude and told me to spend some "REAL" money... ive lost my job and can not afford that and its all i can do to feed the farm i have now. i will do the best that i can i only have one egg in there and if it hatches fine and if it done fine

Well kid, I did a LOT of studying and reading before I made my move and got an incubator. My life is too short to have a lot of aggravation so I don't buy things I think are gonna be a lot of fuss and hassle...

As for me being rude: well I think it's just you being young and full of beans, and me being mellow and VERY fortright and speaking straight from the hip with folks.

Go read your own sig tag

Good luck, that thing will stabilize if you leave it be... I think from now on I'll just leave your threads to others, I only tried to help you.

i honestly appreciate your help you were one of the 2 that answered all of my questions like i wrote them i didnt meant to offend you at all and i appologize. i am a little upset that i have lost my job and that comment touched a nerve even though it shouldnt have and you didnt mean for it to i hope you get to read this and that you dont "leave my threads be" i feel like you are very wise and im new and need all the help i can get!!

i am honestly VERY sorry

campobello is this little town in SC its about 3 or 4 miles for the sc\
c line. i swear its so small that if you flat on your back your feet will be in another town LOL

I have found with the LG, DON"T FUSS WITH IT let it be and it will do just fine. The more you fuss the more the temp will have ups and down. AND don't keep adjusting the temp. it takes it hours to regulate after each time you touch it.

Hope this helps you. I have an LG and Hovabator and a homemade and they all have their little quirks.

Debbie

Heck, you're stressed out.

Good thing is you're real serious about this and it shows, that's why you are stressing... Hang looser.

The Brinsea 20 is a very stable incubator, but I kept opening it and fiddling with it the first 2 days I had it. Finally I gave up and left it alone and it stabilzed and runs solid now. Maybe yours would do the same if you let it be. One poster said you find the notch (sweet spot) with the dial, mark it with a marker - real good advice.

You hang in there.

We're cool, no worries

Sounds to me like everybody needs to mind their tempers.

Big Mike, you are very knowlegable, no argument there. And frustrated with people who holler for help before doing their research. I share your frustration, but I also remember being young an impatient.

And Keni*Sue, I know it's pretty scary when you are just getting started. It's pretty overwhelming.

The main thing is to remember internet manners. Tone of voice cannot be heard, leaving many things misinterpreted. And one's style of writing is very important.

Keni, please make an effort to type properly, it is very hard to read your long, unpunctuated postings. And please, try to not scream for help before doing a bit of research in the search engine here. It is excellent. And it is frustrating to have someone holler for help when they have not studied what they're doing.

If you continue to have problems, do some research, and then, if you don't find the answer in your reading, everyone will be more willing to help, if they can!

I am always willing to respond to PM's with questions and comments. I may get banned for this, for a while, but it's worth it Keni, if I can give you some guidance and also some understanding.

BTW, this is an unbiased opinion- I have never had any personal contact with any of the posters in this thread.

i know you may be moderator and i might get banned(sure hope not i enjoy the website and it help me out ALOT bc i am new) for this but, i have re-read ALL of my postings and only 2 could have used an extra period. or you may have meant that i didnt always capitalize my letter in the right spot. and as far as the search engine goes i have not found it useful. for example: if you type in the word "egg" it brings up EVERY thread or post that has the word egg, weather im looking for what that post\ hread has to offer or not and its hard to look throught 100 to 200 pages, especially if i need help quickly. maybe im not doing something right.

Hi Keni--I just remembered that I told you I would give you all the tips I could on the LG.

I am new at this. The things I know about the LG I know because a nice person helped me out, and so far it has done fairly well for me. I do not want anyone to think that I think I am an expert, as I am not. But I am a good listener.

Ok. When you turn the little temp knob up or down, turn it only the TEENIEST bit and then don't check it again for an hour. If you THINK you have turned it, you probably have.

Don't worry about changing it for minor temp changes. Aim at not touching it at all if it is between 99 and 101.

Put some little jars of water in it to help stabilize the temp (especially with only one egg in there, you need the mass). Olive jars or small canning jelly jars, like that.

Leave the first little red plug out until hatch day, then both of them.

Turn the eggs three times a day.

I used a warm wet wash cloth to raise humidity, never had to try to lower it.

I did mist with warm water over the eggs during hatch as the humidity was too low.

Some people do fine with the LG.

I have heard that you need to watch the temps very carefully on day 20 as sometimes the temp will rise, but have not have this experience.

Be sure to wash your hands before you turn them. NO hand lotion should get on the little eggies, or bacteria, or perfume.

Oh--kiss them for luck as you put them in.

thanks so much i will do all of the i have it pretty regulated now it kinda jumpin arount but nthn too serious. humidity is givin me a fit im lookin at it every 5 minutes to make sure lol... not sure how ima sleep tonite !!! i had a bit of a mystery though i dont member bumpin my bator and i didnt turn the egg and it was on the opposite side!! and its not been in there long enough for a chicken to be in there, but i turned it back over and ill turn it tonite at 12.

Well, good luck.

I am beginning to think that getting into incubating chicks is right about the same as a gambling addiction.

My very first shipped eggs, I hatched out 1 out of 18. I don't think it was the incubator though, I think it was the post office, because the eggs I walked to the incubator did just fine.
