I bought an $80 pigeon trap with bobs on both ends. I put it in a parking garage where the owner was asking me to get rid of his pigeons (I have a loft built and am ready to re-home 6-8...but I'm not having luck). I had one pigeon in after a few days, decided to leave it so it's friends would come join...and the next morning it was gone. Pigeons kept going in, eating the food, and leaving at will. I'm new to this, but the bob thing seems to really not work at all. any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Post a pix of your trap and bobs. Maybe setup is incorrect
Is it possible the seeds are consumed by mice and you think it is the pigeons.
Are the bobs too far apart????
Are the bobs set up to be a one way passage??
Your next try would be to have trap there wide open and let pigeons get comfortable eating there. Next day lower the bobs and capture a large volume of them.
Pix would help me understand why your pigeons are able to get out at will.

I don't have a pic at the moment....but I'll happily run out and grab the trap and post a pic later tonight or tomorrow. If there is something I can change to make it work, I would love that.
I am sure it's pigeons....I have employees working in the building, and they would see the birds go in and then be out later. They are one way, with entry as the set direction.

This is the trap I bought.... I can probably take better pics later on that make the bobs more visible.

I just checked out the cage... Can you move the bobs sideways??? Then you would have to crimp them slightly more closed on top rail so they don't.

Is it possible someone is releasing them thinking that you are catching them to be eaten, or use for dog training with less than IDEAL outcomes???

The first bob is almost on the side of the cage....not sure what good that one really does anyway. I'll try to slide them, I'm not sure if they have any play in them or not.

I have the cage on top of ductwork in the ceiling of a parking garage. No one can access it except of us (b/c we use a scissor lift to get to it). I'm sure no one else is letting them go....though I'm also sure if people noticed it there would be plenty who would want to.
I do use them for dog training....but they don't get shot, that's why I have the loft built. I need birds that I can plant in the field then fly home after we flush it so I don't have to keep getting new birds. They will actually live a pretty good life -- much better than they do in a city parking garage I'd think, anyway.

Good way to use as dog training for sure.
Next day free flight time again.
There are those that do the other extreme, and I'm not a fan of such.
