Have you tried to dip his beak in water to see what he does? I wonder if it could help clean up the dried blood to get it ready for a repair?

dubbing is commonly done to prevent pecking/picking/fighting.
combs can be trimmed to prevent frostbite, or can be done after getting frostbite.

Oh man...I'm even more sad for him now if he was a fighting bird

The wattle visible in the pic does look normal but on the other side it's almost non-existent...and if he was a showbird I don't think his people would let his legs get so grody. Now I'm even more curious as to how all of his tail feathers got pulled out, at first I was thinking dog attack and the poor thing ended up on the side of the highway, but with no broken skin, the dog attack doesn't seem to fit anymore. What a sad, sad story Mr. Lucky could tell. He's still doing good and when I just went in to give him another drink he "talked" to me a little more.

I'm sorry but now I am wondering if this poor guy was just dumped! Maybe that is the REAL reason he is all beat up...?
