Raven winced at the noise Linden created, then shrugged. They would be fighting their way out anyway, now. She took aim, listening to the bandits come closer, then fired her arrow, quickly setting another one.

The group rushed right past Pike, not even realizing he was there. Col followed at a slower pace. His wounds had been tended to and bandaged and he was armed again, but still wanted to stay out of the worst of the fray.

As the tunnel plunged into momentary darkness, Terrick dropped the light weight metal pole and it clattered noisily to the floor as he fumbled to pull his sword from his belt. He had set down his shield somewhere against the wall and cursed as he took a step backwards, trying to locate it before things went to hell, but his hand only found the rock wall. He could see torchlight coming down the tunnel and 5 bandits plunged into the small cavern. The two in front carried medium sized, mismatched shields. Almost immediately, Raven's arrow plunged into the shield on the right. The two behind carried torches and swords. Col trailed in the rear.

With the light from the torches, Terrick saw his shield, a few feet away from where he had been looking for it. He dove toward it, trying to snatch it up while two men with shields rushed him.

Raven saw Col and turned her aim to him, firing quickly as the four rushed past her place. She cursed the ill luck that sent her first arrow into the shield, then shrugged it off and concentrated on the remaining bandits. She realized she would not be able to use her bow for long with them, but only had a dagger as a backup weapon.

Pike breathed a sigh of relief when the bandits rushed past him, at the very least it gave him an extra couple of minutes to consider his options. Although the feeling and mobility of his arm was slowly coming back, the snake bite had left his entire body feeling weak and unstable. He couldn't quite describe the feeling, but it made him feel uneasy about his ability to take on a rested bandit. At the same time he also knew that Linden, Mavis, Raven, Maple and Terrick were all silently suffering from wounds of their own, and they didn't have a choice but to fight now that they were trapped. The decision that followed was an easy one.

After the first four bandits went past, Pike spotted Col following more slowly in the dim light. Almost instantly a spark of rage ignited inside of him, if it hadn't been for Col he probably wouldn't have been bitten by the snake in the first place. Although the bandit was patched up, Pike knew that his wounds were still fresh and likely still causing him a significant amount of pain. With Raven's words to recover the stolen light stone on his mind, and his own vengeance, Pike charged forward from behind Col and swung his one remaining weapon, the battle club, as hard as he could at the back of the bandit's knees.

Linden counted to five quickly as the bandits entered the tunnel and did the math in record time, it was four against five, not counting Maple and Mavis. Wonderful... Unarmed and exhausted from his time in the cave, Linden sprang from his hiding place and attacked the two bandits in the second row as the first two went for Terrick. He lowered his shoulder and barreled into the first bandit's shield at a high velocity. If he was going to die in the tunnels, he wasn't going quietly.

Mavis squeezed his eyes shut and tried to block out the sounds of yet another bloody battle. As if his head didn't hurt enough. He longed to go out and help them but was smart enough to recognize his condition and realize that he would do more harm then good. He trusted Linden's judgement, and the guard had told him to stay put. So he did.

Pike's club slammed into the back of Col's leg and the bandit grunted in surprise as he started to fall forward. Only a split second later Raven's arrow sliced across his cheek and ear, taking the bottom of the ear lobe clean off. As the projectile continued on its trajectory it narrowly avoided hitting Pike and struck the wall. "Look out behind!" Col managed to call as he caught himself against the cavern wall, a move which sent another jolt of pain through him from the earlier arrow wound.

Terrick managed to reach his shield, but there was no time to strap it on his arm before the two bandits were upon him. Grabbing the strap, he hefted it up awkwardly in time to deflect a blow from a short & wiry bandit. The second swung his torch wildly in the caravan guard's direction and Terrick had to take a few steps backwards to avoid the flame. "Raven, get the girl and get out of here!" he yelled, feeling half blinded himself from having the torch so close to his face, hoping the elf could get Maple out of this dead end, death trap of a tunnel while he, Linden, & Pike kept the bandits engaged.

Meanwhile, the bandit Linden had just plowed into reeled backwards under the weight of the larger man. The second torchbearer spun toward them and swung his pitted blade at Linden's backside.

Raven turned at Terrick's call and brought her bow up to fire at the bandit about to strike Linden before moving towards the cell and the girl. When she was close enough she struck out with her bow, using it like a club, at the torchbearer attacking Terrick. She swung the bow over her shoulder and grabbed her dagger with one hand and the girl's hand with the other "Come, we must get you out of here." She decided to try for Mavis as well on the way out.

Pike didn't even see the arrow or have time to duck before it struck the wall behind him and clattered to the floor. He briefly acknowledged how lucky he was not to have met the same fate as Col, but the feeling was short lived. As Col fell against the wall, Pike reached out and grabbed a fistful of the bandit's greasy hair. He didn't have a dagger to finish the job off with, so instead he wrapped his arm tightly around Col's neck and dragged him backwards away from the wall. "Where is the light stone?" He growled in Col's ear. "The one you stole from me!"

---

Carried forward by his own momentum, Linden fell forward with the first bandit until they both crashed to the floor in a heap between Mavis and Raven. "Go Raven, go n----!" He tried to shout the warning when he spotted her and Maple but his sentence was cut off abruptly as the second bandit's blade struck his back. Choking down the howl of agony which rose quickly up his throat, he writhed in pain and searched desperately for a weapon to steal off of the first bandit. His hand closed around the sword, and he jerked his arm backwards to try and rip it from his grasp.
